Certifies the residence or not of the citizen, whether for professional, economic or social interests.
The holders of this card issued in another State of the European Union will have authorization to reside and work in Spain.
The Foreigner Identification Number - Número Identificación de Extranjeros (NIE) must be requested by foreigners, that is, non-Spanish citizens who, due to their economic, professional or social interests, are related to Spain.
Family members of a European Union citizen or Spanish citizen, or of another state party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or Switzerland, must obtain this card when they meet with the family member or accompany them, in addition to not showing the nationality in none of the States of the Union when the stay in Spain is going to be longer than three months.
Those European citizens, from another State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or Switzerland, who are going to reside in Spain for more than three months, are obliged to apply for registration in the Central Register of Foreigners.
The Foreigner's Identity Card -La Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero (TIE) accredits the legality of the foreigner's situation in Spain.
